Mission Statement

My professional mission is to build math knowledge, motivate, and encourage high school students by teaching them how to apply math concepts to real life situations while also being an example and a motivator in order to produce responsible, respectful, and accountable members of the community after graduation.

To My Students...

  • Get involved - do more than fill the desk!
  • Never give up or let anyone tell you, "You can't"!
  • Be your true self

Mathematics Instructor

Leadership Advisor

Welcome to Math and Renaissance/Leadership at Simi Valley High School!  My name is Ms. Christman and this is my website for use by my students.  I will do my very best to make sure that it is current.  I expect this site to be a resource for both my students and their parents.  I am looking forward to a great year!

The rumors are true – I did go to Royal High!  After my 4 years as a Highlander, I attended California State University Channel Islands for one year and then decided to transfer to California Lutheran University, where I earned my B.A. in Liberal Arts in May, 2008.  While I was working on my degree, I also worked at Royal High as a varsity and competitive cheerleading coach and the choreographer for the drama department for four years. I also spent time teaching dance at Swayze’s Dancer’s Studio, and now currently teaching at Gotta Dance Academy in Simi Valley.  I received my mathematics teaching credential in May, 2009, and was very blessed to be offered a teaching position in such a difficult time in education.  This is my dream job and I couldn’t be happier to get the opportunity to work with the students of Simi Valley.

I am very excited to be returning to Simi High, which is a place I never would have thought I would be teaching at considering I am a Royal High graduate.  Despite my green and gold background, I am very excited to be teaching at Simi.  Teaching is something that I have always wanted to do, but I was drawn to the mathematics subject area after some difficult experiences during my own high school years.  I vowed that I would be a teacher that students knew was there for them and their success.  I am still all about the students now, and I know that it is my responsibility to give them the best education they can get.  I am truly devoted to my profession and I hope that I can help my students change any sour feelings they may currently have about math.
