Introducing our Music Boosters

Who are the SVHS Music Boosters?
Behind every successful instrumental music department is an active group of parents. The purpose of this group is to support and, essentially, fund the school music program.

The Simi Valley High School Music Boosters are a dedicated group of parents who volunteer their time and talent to ensure the success of the Simi Valley High School instrumental music department. We are organized formally as a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization, governed separately from, but working closely with the High School faculty and administration.

We work closely with the Instrumental Music Director to enhance the student experiences and educational opportunities, as well as work closely with the ASB office to ensure close alignment with high school policies and procedures.

Supported programs include Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Winter Guard, Color Guard and the Marching “Pride”.

Fundraising helps supplement program needs determined by the director and the SVHS Music Boosters. General fundraisers benefit the whole music program, but we also help with the individual course costs by providing students the opportunity to earn donations and funds through sanctioned fundraisers and performance opportunities.

Who Is Eligible To Be A Booster?
Membership is composed of parents and guardians of all students enrolled in the instrumental music program. Each parent is considered a member no matter how involved you choose to be. There is no separate fee required, but Boosters are requested to meet the fundraising or participation donation amount for each class in which their child is enrolled. There are monthly meetings of the executive board and general boosters, which are typically combined on the second Tuesday of each month. Meeting dates are verified ahead of time and are posted on the Charms calendar - School code: SVHSBand.

Why is Your Support of the SVHS Music Boosters Important?
Music programs are costly, but worth it. Their value is both to the students and the community. Research demonstrates the important role music programs and the fine arts play in the development of intelligence. With the major shortfall in California state education funding, it is imperative that we aggressively raise funds to 1) repair and/or replace instruments that are more than 30 years old and are either obsolete or beyond repair, 2) provide coaching and clinical staff for the various performing groups, 3) provide funding for other departmental necessities such as purchasing sheet music, providing uniforms, and coordinating truck rentals for festivals and competitions. We want to ensure all students have access to instruments, equipment, staff and supplies. Without our support, and, frankly, financial support, some of the programs currently offered at SVHS would literally be cancelled. None of us wishes this to happen.

Come join this fantastic group of parents and share your student's high school music experience!
